Engineer Records is a vinyl only label founded by minimal house producer Wyro, based out of Saint Petersburg. We designed a logotype for the label, which was then further developed into a vinyl sleeve design.
As a reference to engineering, the logotype was constructed in a bit of a raw or, if you will, “brutalist” fashion. The letters are wedged into each other and written out in a circular direction, reminiscent of cogs in a cogwheel. We also discovered that the logo could fit nicely on a vinyl sleeve with a punched out centre hole. Graphic elements inspired by the musical qualities of works such as “Light-Space Modulator” by László Moholy-Nagy and “Symphonie Diagonale” by Viking Eggeling were then added as a dynamic contrast to the rigidity of the logotype.
